Student-Led Programs

LCS Students are stakeholders in their community. They run the Student Store, lead events on campus, mentor their peers and volunteer to make a difference in the surrounding neighborhoods and the city. Under the guidance of advisory teachers, students learn to become servant-leaders while acquiring valuable life skills that set them up for success.

Student Projects

The high expectations of Larchmont's secondary progams rigorously prepare students for college, while continuing to foster the sense of community, love of learning and creative processes that are the hallmark of our elementary and middle school programs.

Larchmont Signature Projects propel students to be stewards of positive change as they participate in meaningful service to their communities. Based on principles of eco-literacy and social justice, each student in grades K-12 embarks upon a signature project grounded in a project-based learning approach. These projects are core to our model and a key way Larchmont fulfills its mission of “instilling in students a dedication to improving the world they inhabit."

In 11th grade, LFP students take the Junior Research Seminar course in preparation for the 12th grade Senior Hallmark Project. We will be highlighting and sharing some of the outstanding projects LFP students are working on here.

Field Trips

The curriculum and instruction at Larchmont Charter School is based on the theory of constructivism. Integrated, action-based learning is one of the primary approaches to offering a constructivist learning environment. Taking students out of the classroom to explore their environment assists in delivering curriculum through diverse means and providing opportunities for them to make meaningful and personal connections to the content. Field trips are a critical element of our curriculum in that they allow young people to explore the world around them, learn in unique environments, encounter new ideas and concepts, and engage in the greater Los Angeles Community.
